We are seeking a Full Time Applications Engineer to join our Conductor Accessories team here in Duncan, SC!

The Substation Application Engineer provides technical support to energy utility customers for AFL's substation products, which includes creating application notes, instruction manuals and conducting training. Application Engineers act as the voice of the customer for the form, fit, and function of AFL products.

Responsibilities
  • Provide pre - and post - technical support to sales, customer service representatives, and customers. Including, but not limited to:
    • Field training
    • Customer visits
    • Industry standard participations
  • Conducts product training both internally for company associates and externally for customers, sales agents, and representative
  • Creates documents for new product introductions, installation instructions, applications notes, and product specific guidelines
  • Interact with manufacturing, sales, and research teams to develop and market new products to support product launch for at least the first six months.
  • Lead technical RFx response efforts
  • Remain up to date and knowledgeable on the most current competitor product offering and technology.
  • Adhere to and promote the environments, health, and safety policies of AFL
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment assessments, background & reference checks
  • Other assignments as identified.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Engineering (preferred electrical engineer, but other engineering allowed with relevant experience). Non-degreed individuals will be considered so long as they have held an engineering defined role within an organization for a minimum of 10 years.
  • Substation engineering experience in either a manufacturing or industrial environment is a plus
  • Strongly proficient using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Highly effective/strong communication skills (Oral and Written)
  • Knowledge of mechanical tooling design, software macro generation
  • "Find a way" and "Can do" mentality
  • Project Management Skills
Working Conditions
  • Office and manufacturing floor environment.
  • Travel up to 50% to field sites, customer locations, etc
