Job Title

Participates in the design, fabrication, installation, calibration, maintenance, and repair of agency wide electronic instrumentation, process automation controls.

Performs detailed calibration and maintenance of process instrumentation used to monitor, record, and control process variables including pressure, flow, temperature, level, and chemical composition which are incorporated in the design of process equipment systems.

Performs basic troubleshooting of various PLCs, goes online with processor to diagnose control issues, replaces hardware, and basic wiring of PLC modules.

Performs basic troubleshooting of operator interface terminals. Replaces hardware, downloads existing program code, and basic wiring to the OIT.

Provides essential technical knowledge required by both engineering and operations, optimizes the implementation and modification of facility process equipment.

Inspects and monitors the installation of electronic instrumentation and process control equipment during facility upgrades by outside contractors.

Performs field and bench level repair of electronic instrumentation, electronic devices, and computer based assemblies utilizing NIST certified test equipment.

Troubleshoots and repairs variable frequency drives, motor operated actuators, and other electrical equipment requiring 480 VAC.

Ensures the timely resolution of automated process equipment issues and minimizes interruptions of facility operations.

Installs, calibrates, and maintains fixed position, toxic gas monitors and systems.

Inspects all work in progress and completes for compliance with applicable policies, procedures, regulations, and standards of quality and safety.

Researches, identifies, and provides complete requisition specifications, which comply with established procurement procedures, facilitates the ordering of materials and supplies needed for daily work.

Maintains a safe, clean, and orderly work area and service vehicle.

Ensures accurate and complete asset and maintenance records, reports, equipment drawings/schematics are developed and maintained, and all instrumentation/electrical maintenance data is entered into the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).

Works On Call as scheduled for 24/7 emergency response.

Attends conferences, meetings, training, seminars, etc., as necessary to maintain and enhance job knowledge and skills.

Management may assign additional duties as trained for and qualified to do so related to the work of the position as necessary.

Essential Skills & Experience:

Requires a valid state driver's license.

Requires associate degree, vocational technical degree or specialized training that is equivalent to satisfactory completion of two (2) years of college education with emphasis in electronics technology, or a closely related field.

Requires a minimum of two (2) years' experience in related field.

Must obtain a Class "D" Biological Wastewater Operator License within two (2) years from date of employment.
