Senior Paralegal Job Summary
As a member of the BSMH Legal Network, the Senior Paralegal supports attorneys in one or more markets and/or functions (e.g., Supply Chain) and serves as a Paralegal subject?matter expert (SME) for the legal network. The role works directly with attorneys and others to realize shared goals, may direct other paralegals, interfaces with operational and/or support services leadership, and makes recommendations on agendas and work plans. The Senior Paralegal performs a variety of essential duties, including drafting, reviewing and negotiating template agreements under the supervision of an attorney and other duties requiring effective organizational, planning, problem?solving, multitasking, technology, analytical, judgment and leadership skills.
Supports two or more attorneys, including Deputy General Counsel, Associate General Counsel or Assistant General Counsel. This position will produce work of a legal nature, utilizing knowledge and expertise regarding the legal system and substantive and procedural law and the ethical considerations of the legal profession. We are seeking two Senior Paralegals one with experience reviewing supply chain and group purchasing organization contracts and one with experience reviewing IT contracts.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for review and drafting of a high volume of agreements, correspondence, memoranda, policies or other communications for assigned legal matters.
- Investigate facts, gather and arrange requested documents for attorney needs and provide summaries.
- Review appropriate correspondence queues, take appropriate action and document the account accordingly.
- Maintain a repository of templates for various types of documents and contracts.
- Coordinate and monitor activities to triage work to appropriate person.
- Organize and maintain documents in a paper or electronic filing system, including Meditract and I?Manage.
- Conduct research on relevant laws, regulations and legal articles.
- Deliver education and training in response to specific business needs.
- Serve as a Paralegal SME Lead or Consultant, collaborating with Attorneys to develop and implement standardized templates and processes across markets or entities.
- Participate in analyzing issues and future needs to identify projects that support strategic plans, achieve business goals and improve or streamline functions.
- Own and lead implementation of change.
- Complete twelve (12) hours of continuing legal education or other applicable education on an annual basis.
- Back up and support other paralegal(s) as needed.

Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Paralegal Studies or Related Field (*prior paralegal experience may be substituted for education).
Certification
- Paralegal certification (preferred).
- Notary Public (preferred).
Experience
- Minimum five years directly applicable work experience in a law firm, corporate department, healthcare legal department or other related department.
