Substitute teachers perform the job duties of regularly scheduled teachers who are absent from the academy due to vacation, illness or personal time off. These duties include supervising children, executing lesson plans provided by the teacher and maintaining all safety and educational standards. He/She assists regularly scheduled staff with classroom and outdoor activities, supervision of children, and meal times as requested.

Substitute teaching personnel will be required to meet all legal and DHEC related requirements for employments including criminal background checks and medical assessments prior to employment. Well-qualified applicants will be provided with financial assistance to obtain required medical assessments.

Substitute teachers will be required to participate in Kiddie Academy training so as to be well-prepared for any assignments that they choose to take. This training time will be paid at $13.00/hour. Once training is complete, substitute teachers will be paid $17.00/hour

Once training is complete, substitute teachers can expect to receive a call to serve 1 to 3 days per week (more often during peak vacation times) for an 8 hour shift. Long-Term Substitute rolls will be available in the Spring of 2026.
