GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

In this challenging role, you will be supporting the ADR - Advising & Retention department at Greenville Technical College. Duties may include any or all of the following.

TheEngineering and Professional Studies (EPS) Pathway Advisor reports to the Deanof Advising and is under the indirect supervision of the Advising Coordinator.The pathway advisor will use KPI dashboard, predictive analytics tools, and studentsuccess dashboards to monitor student engagement, performance, and riskindicators. They are responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations theschool which they are assigned, including advising, supporting planning,registration and advising sessions, managing advisor loads, overseeing advisingappointments, coordinating services with other student resources/supportoffices, providing training and support for staff and faculty advisors,coordinating student events, and maintaining a current knowledge of collegepolicies and procedures especially those related to advising. This roleemphasizes case management strategies to identify, monitor, and supportstudents who are at academic risk or face challenges that may impact theirpersistence and graduation. They will create and distribute reports to the Deanof Advising and the Advising Coordinator on a regular schedule and asneeded.

DATATRACKING & PREDICTIVE ANALYTICS: The EPS pathway advisor will use KPIdashboard, predictive analytics tools, and student success dashboards tomonitor student engagement, performance, and risk indicators. They will createand distribute reports to the Dean of Advising and the Advising Coordinator ona daily, weekly, monthly, and/or yearly basis as needed. They will analyze datato identify trends and recommend interventions to increase retention andsuccess. The pathway advisor will use Student Information System (SIS), degreeaudit tools, advising platforms, and communication tools to monitor and advisestudents. They will track advisors' use of the advising system of record foradvising appointments. Track the success of students taking six or more credithours online. They will monitor and report on advising portal numbers asrequested. Track 3 to complete list for the School. Responsible fordisseminating and managing the action item list when needed.

ADVISING:The EPS pathway advisor will follow the advising plan designated by the Collegeto advise students following the Appreciative Advising model. The advisor willprovide personalized, one-on-one case management style academic advising tostudents, helping them navigate their educational pathways. The advisor willassist students in understanding degree requirements, developing academicplans, and exploring potential career opportunities. Advisors are expected tooffer guidance on course selection, academic progress, and opportunities forco-curricular involvement to support student success while working through aGuided Pathways framework. This includes helping students identify and pursueclear, structured academic pathways; promoting early engagement in academicplanning; and ensuring students are aware of resources that will help them stayon track toward graduation. The pathway advisor will manage a caseload of100-150 students, maintaining detailed records of interactions, academicprogress, and personal concerns. The advisor will have check-ins with studentsat 15, 30, and 45 credit hours earned. The role involves monitoring studentprogress through regular interactions, identifying at-risk students, andproviding targeted interventions. The advisor will utilize case managementstrategies to offer personalized support, including referrals to campusresources such as tutoring, counseling, or career services as needed. Monitorand provide resources for students taking six or more credit hours online. Theyare responsible for providing students and advisors with transfer information,including transfer and articulation agreements.

TECHNOLOGY:The EPS pathway advisor will be the SIS/technology superuser in the school.They will provide assistance and troubleshooting to the advisors and studentswith advising technologies. The pathway advisor will stay current ontechnological advancements in advising and utilize these tools to enhance thestudent experience and streamline advising practices. They will run theadvising portal report on a daily basis and distribute appointment informationto the advisors in their School. The pathway advisor will be responsible forOccupational Insight formatting and assistance in their school.

ENROLLMENT:The EPS pathway advisor will offer proactive guidance in navigating anybarriers related to enrollment, including waitlist management, course changes,and prerequisite issues. They will be the liaison for multiple measures andtranscripts. They will be responsible for approving dual majors for students intheir school. The pathway advisor will coordinate with the dean and advisingcoordinator to plan, schedule, and implement college events, school events,extended hours, and peak advising times during heavy enrollment periods asneeded. They will serve as a liaison from the school advising to EnrollmentServices. They will plan and implement a schedule with Enrollment Services toonboard new students. They will identify and implement processes to streamlinestudent transitions. They will create and manage a walk-in schedule for theschool. The pathway advisor will ensure advising appointments for the schoolare offered both in-person and virtually, including at non-traditional times.They will distribute advising assignments from the portal report daily.

TRAINING:The EPS pathway advisor will plan and implement, with guidance from theadvising coordinator, regular training and updates related to academic advisingfor the advisors and faculty advisors in the school to which they are assigned.Training will focus on enhancing advising skills, improving knowledge ofstudent support resources, and staying up-to-date on emerging technologies,advising strategies, and Occupational Insight. The pathway advisor will workunder the guidance of the advising coordinator to plan and implement theAdvising Training Academy each fall and spring. They will attend thecollege-wide advising meeting held on the first Wednesday of each month, andmeet a minimum score on the advising training assessment yearly. The advisor isresponsible for maintaining current knowledge of FERPA, college policies andprocedures, especially those related to advising.

COLLABORATION:The EPS pathway advisor will represent advising on various collegecommittees and events related to enrollment management and advising. Theadvisor will collaborate closely with faculty, staff, and other campusdepartments to ensure a holistic approach to student support. This includesparticipating in interdisciplinary teams, attending departmental meetings, andworking with other support services (such as tutoring or counseling) to createa coordinated support system. The advisor will actively contribute toimplementing and continuously improving the Guided Pathways framework.Collaboration will also extend to community partners to provide students withexternal resources and opportunities.
PROFESSIONALDEVELOPMENT: The EPS pathway advisor is expected to engage in ongoingprofessional development opportunities. This includes attending conferences,webinars, and workshops related to advising, student success, and highereducation trends. Consult NACADA and Appreciative Advising for best practices.The advisor will also contribute to the professional community by sharing bestpractices, participating in advising networks, and staying informed aboutinnovations in student support

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A bachelor's degree and relevant program experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Masters Degree and two years of Higher Education Advising Experience.
