This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation for a military technician position with the 81st Readiness Division, Area Maintenance Support Activity 127 located at Greenville, South Carolina.
Responsibilities include troubleshooting, repairing, modifying, and maintaining various construction, industrial, combat, tactical, and power generation equipment. This also involves repairing and replacing components of cooling, braking, exhaust, power train, or hydraulic systems on combat and tactical, automotive, and powered support equipment. Additionally, the role requires the removal, adjustment, or replacement of defective or worn parts and components, performing operational inspections, ensuring vehicles are properly serviced and repaired, and performing preventative maintenance checks and services. Minor body work and assisting higher-graded repairers in performing more complex repairs are also part of the job.
Requirements include an active membership as a Soldier in the Army Reserve before a start date can be set. The position is announced as a standing register (open continuous recruitment) with the first cutoff date to evaluate candidates on December 9, 2025. Application packages must be complete at the time referral certificates are issued. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs and other organizations. There is no specific length of training or experience required, but the ability to perform preventive maintenance checks and services, conduct basic operational inspections, and operate equipment to check work is necessary. The job requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, stretching, climbing, and crouching, and occasionally lifting heavier items with assistance or lifting devices.
Working conditions include performing work inside and occasionally outside, standing on hard surfaces for long periods of time, and exposure to drafts, dirt, grease, oils, and vehicle exhaust fumes. The job may subject the employee to burns, cuts, scrapes, bruises, and strains. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. Proof of U.S. Citizenship is required. A one-year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from the Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. Civilian Permanent Change of Station (PCS) allowances may be authorized, subject to the provisions of the Joint Travel Regulations and an agency determination that a PCS move is in the Government Interest. New Army Reserve Military Technicians may be authorized moving expenses to their first official duty station.
