The beautiful AC Hotel Greenville Downtown is seeking a dedicated Sous Chef to join our team. The purpose of the Sous Chef is to support the executive chef in the food and beverage operations and to assist with the development and training of staff.
Essential job functions include managing kitchen and staff, implementing policies and controls for effective kitchen operation; controlling food cost by training staff in proper food preparation and handling; completing or assisting with the administrative duties associated with personnel and hotel; understanding and enforcing adherence to health department and hotel sanitation and food handling guidelines; complying with all recipes and product specifications, assuring staff does the same; maintaining effective communication within kitchen, being responsive to staff suggestions and concerns, and working to resolve problems; attending meetings as scheduled, meeting regularly with kitchen staff and other department managers; conducting regular inspections of all kitchen/dishwashing areas and coolers, to ensure proper use; assisting in menu development; inspecting fish, meat and poultry upon arrival, to ensure freshness and compliance to specifications and order; and preparing reports, proposals and other communications as assigned.
Experience/education required includes 2-5 years as an assistant sous chef in a recognized resort or hotel, managing or supervising a staff of culinarians. Excellent communication skills, and must be able to speak, read and understand English. College degree preferred; high school diploma or general education degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
