Contract Days: 230 days

Minimum Education and Training

Requires a master's degree in education administration from an accredited college or university supplemented by at least five years of experience as a school principal or administrator, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

General Statement of the Job

Under limited supervision and in collaboration with the Associate Superintendent of Academic Services and the Executive Director of Elementary Education and Executive Director of Early Childhood Education, this position supports the SDPC Department of Academic Services' initiatives and functions for the district at the elementary level. Serves as a member of the District Leadership Team.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead PD, planning, reporting and training for Reading Coaches and Instructional Coaches
  • Lead monthly Reading Coach meetings
  • Complete and help lead, in conjunction with other leadership in Academic services, Learning Walks within elementary schools in SDPC
  • Attend relevant SCASA meetings to learn and bring back information to better prepare educators in SDPC
  • Create Professional Learning and instruction for new elementary curriculum and other HQIM as needed
  • Facilitate the training and support of curriculum development and instruction within the elementary grade band
  • Organize, plan, implement, and supervise the SDPC reading plan, and reading summer camps for students within SDPC
  • Ensure SDPC is in compliance with regulations as set forth by the state Read to Succeed legislation
  • Collaborate with members of Academic Services, Administrative Services, and Instructional Technology to ensure alignment of instruction across SDPC
  • Help develop a FLEX or intervention option for students in grades 3-8 (specifically in 6-8) that utilizes UFLI or other interventions, as well as preparing educators to serve struggling readers in upper elementary and middle level grades.
  • Help Academic Services in connection with site level leaders with creating a cohesive master schedule across the district that aligns MTSS and best practices.
