HSE Specialist and Training Coordinator

Objective of the Position: This position provides Health Safety and Environmental (HSE) technical and administrative support for and on the behalf of the Eberspaecher Plant assigned. Responsible for supporting the Plant Manager in the provision of a safe and healthy working environment for all employees, contractors, and visitors and to achieve continuous improvement in HSE and to also achieve a high level of HSE awareness by ensuring that risks in the workplace are properly controlled and that impacts on the environment are minimized. To develop, present and or coordinate production and general training courses thereby ensuring that operators, artisans, team leaders and supervisors have the necessary competence level to meet the required outcomes of their position.

Essential Accountabilities: the position incumbent ensures that:

  • Promote and drive the HSE mind-set and culture at the assigned Eberspaecher plant.
  • Monitor and support compliance to all applicable EBOS, Federal, state, local and other related HSE requirements
  • Monitor and Maintain plant OSHA Recordkeeping
  • Monitor status of plant active/open Workmen's Compensation claims and associated costs
  • Prepare, maintain, and report on Monthly HSE KPI's per EBOS requirements (T:drive)
  • Assist in incident investigations, completion of related EBOS HSE Early Alerts and other related actvities
  • Assist and participate in the HSE Early Alert 8D process; Monitor status to maintain completion within assigned due dates.
  • Plan and steward Monthly HSE Committee meetings; maintain meeting records
  • Prepare and deliver HSE related employee notifications and communications as needed
  • Monitor First Aid Logs and associated reporting and recordkeeping
  • Lead and participate in Weekly Plant HSE walks with the plant Management Team
  • Monitor and maintain the plant HSE Correction Action Report (HSE CAR); drive completion of HSE CAR activities within assigned due dates
  • HSE representative and participant in all Industrialization, Transfer, and New Program Development related projects and activities.
  • Coordinate, schedule and/or administer HSE training needs per the EETAM HSE Training Calendar and maintain HSE training records.
  • Support Engineering to complete HSE review of new, refurbished, and/or modified plant equipment per the EETAM HSE Equipment and Tooling Review Process (AME-I-3650)
  • Coordinate all incoming Hazardous Materials per the Hazardous Materials Authorization Procedure (AME-P-3336); Maintenance of SDS indices and books.
  • Support Engineering to complete the review and authorize all Hazardous Energy Control (LOTO) task specific procedures for plant equipment and machinery
  • Support Engineering to provide HSE review and approval of all plant related CAPEX expenditures.
  • Support and document task and equipment specific hazard and risk assessments as necessary and required, but at minimum annually.
  • Coordination and maintenance of all Plant Emergency Response procedures, evacuation plans, applicable employee training, and performance of routine drills.
  • Participates in Monthly Global HSE Conference Call and Monthly EETAM HSE Networking Conference Call
  • In general, participates as Plant stakeholder and EETAM BU HSE representative in all Plant programs, projects, and activities.
  • Participation and support of plant HSE activities as determined by and necessary for the continued maintenance of the ISO 14001:2015 and ISO45001 certification.
  • Assists, coordinates and participates in activities and projects necessary to support theEETAM BU HSE with the implementation and continued maintenance EETAM BU HSE programs, policies, and initiatives that will improve HSE awareness and performance.
  • Monitors and audits multivalence / versatility charts to ensure compliance with required standards.
  • Ensures that accurate internal and regulatory training records are maintained.
  • Submits a monthly report on operator/team leader related training activities.
  • Schedules and conducts training sessions for operation employees.
  • Coordinate training activities, related to production, with the relevant production managers.
  • Responsible for the orientation and onboarding of all blue collar employees, including temporary employees
  • Ensures compliance with global standards linked to production i.e. Multivalence in EPT's, Training Program for Team Leaders and Supervisors, Selection Procedure for Operators, Induction.
  • Ensures that employee's records are updated once training has been completed.
  • Submits a daily, weekly and monthly KPI reports to HR Manager.

Secondary Accountabilities: the position incumbent ensures, that

  • Conduct all business related activities for, and on the behalf of, Eberspaecher within the limits of applicable local, state, and federal legal requirements.
  • Provide support to, and compliance with, all local and corporate Eberspaecher Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) policies, procedures and other HSE related requirements.
  • Ability to travel locally, domestically and/or internationally by car, or plane or other means.
  • Quality - Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and follows all ENA polices related to TS16949 and ISO 14001; looks for way to improve and promote quality.
  • All other Plant, EETAM HSE, and Eberspaecher EBOS related
  • Ability to be self-motivated and to work with minimum supervision.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirement Profile:

Professional Background / Basic Qualification / Work Experience:

  • Minimum two years in a training role.
  • 5+ years operator / production experience within the automotive industry, including welding and supervisory experience would be an advantage
  • Working knowledge and understanding of ISO 14001:2004 or 2015 standards preferred.
  • Previous ISO 14001 Internal Auditor training and/or certification is preferred
  • Working knowledge and understanding of Federal, State, and local EHS regulatory and other requirements.
  • Automotive production related experience with robotic welding, manual welding, metalworking, automated machining and assembly supervisory experience would be a plus.
  • Experience in APQP, SPC, 8D and FMEA
  • General understanding of manufacturing site waste streams management and disposal requirements.
  • Position will require up to 20% local travel
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in Microsoft Office. SAP and Share-point are a plus

Working Conditions:

  • This position involves working in an office environment. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work. Occasionally exposed to mechanical hazards, fumes, and irritants when visiting the plants or Prototype shop.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.
