Position Overview: Julie Valentine Center is seeking a compassionate and organized Intake Specialist to join our Child Advocacy Center (CAC) team. This role is essential in coordinating services for children involved in investigations of abuse or neglect. The Intake Specialist is the first point of contact for families and professionals seeking help, ensuring timely and appropriate support is provided.

Job Description: The Child Advocacy Center Intake Specialist (IS) is responsible for processing intakes for investigative services for children including the gathering of relevant information and documentation needed to schedule appointments. The IS works closely with the CAC Program Coordinator to determine the appropriate services for children and to schedule appointments. The IS reviews new cases with other staff to ensure cohesive sharing of information. The IS responds to phone calls and emails requesting assistance with services and when appropriate makes reports to investigative agencies or referrals to other appropriate resources. The IS also rotates as staff responder to the 24-hour hotline/ ER accompaniment for victims of sexual assault approximately one week every 7 weeks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Administrative
  • Triage and intake/ referral processing and information gathering, case staffing coordination with the CAC Program Coordinator and Family Advocates, scheduling of appointments for the CAC
  • Expedite services requested by community partners while maintaining a high degree of professionalism
  • Make or coordinate outside referrals when needed
  • Assigning Family Advocate for follow-up services
  • Accurate data entry and reporting outputs and outcomes
  • Maintain Victim Service Provider (VSP) credential by completing annual training requirements
  • Participate as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, agency staff meetings, fundraisers and other activities as assigned
  • Enhance professional growth and development through activities such as professional affiliations, conferences, workshops, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and/ or requested.
Direct Service
  • Providing crisis intervention as needed for hotline and providing trauma-informed support to families in need of services.
  • Participate in the rotating staff on call schedule for the hotline and ER accompaniment after hours approximately every 7 weeks.
Job Requirements:

Education: Associate's degree in human services related field, bachelor's degree preferred

Experience:Minimum of3 years preferred with experience and skill in providing crisis intervention and case management to victims of interpersonal violence

Job Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams
  • Knowledge of child sexual abuse, victim advocacy, and the criminal justice system
