Senior Cyber Security Engineer – IT Governance/HIPAA

The Senior Cyber Security Engineer is responsible for designing and overseeing secure architectures that protect organizational systems and data. This role ensures the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information assets while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements. The architect develops IT strategies that align with organizational goals, making information systems and networks secure, resilient, and capable of defending against cyber threats.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with technical teams to guide, design and deploy secure architectures for systems, networks, and applications.
  • Develop and maintain technology and IT strategies that enhance protection of information assets.
  • Monitor security alerts, events, and logs across multiple platforms and technologies.
  • Analyze and investigate security incidents, identifying root causes and providing remediation guidance.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and work with IT teams to remediate identified risks.
  • Provide architectural guidance for the implementation and enforcement of security policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Support compliance initiatives related to HIPAA, NIST, CIS, ISO and other regulatory or industry requirements.
  • Participate in security awareness training and initiatives across the organization.
  • Document incidents, investigations, and resolution steps in accordance with organizational processes.
  • Stay current with emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and security technologies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, IT security operations, or related technical field.
  • Knowledge of security frameworks such as NIST CSF, ISO 27001, CIS Critical Security Controls, or COBIT.
  • Experience with SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls, and endpoint security solutions.
  • Expertise in secure architecture principles and enterprise security design.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Certifications (Preferred)

  • CISSP, CISM, or equivalent.
