Civil Project Engineer – North Charleston, SC

Location: North Charleston, South Carolina – a well‑established design firm ranked among the top in the industry is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Civil Site Project Engineer to join its team.

Base Pay Range: $70,000 – $90,000 per year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design plans for site grading, drainage, paving, utilities, and roadways for public and private sector clients.
  • Prepare hydrology, earthwork, and roadway plans and profile evaluations.
  • Assist in collecting due diligence information and preparing concept site engineering plans.
  • Contribute to engineering reports, plans, and specifications.
  • Prepare submittals to state, municipal, and other agencies.
  • Apply judgment in design decisions using standard engineering techniques and alternatives.
  • Make independent decisions within a general framework, adhering to timelines and budgets.
  • Keep project engineer and manager informed of workload and scope changes.
  • Manage small to moderately complex projects from inception to completion.
  • Communicate with clients as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 1 year of design experience.
  • Proficient in hydrology, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D.
  • E.I.T. or P.E. certification required.
  • Valid driver's license.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to sit, use hands, and reach with arms.
  • Frequently required to talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must frequently lift/move up to 10 lbs and occasionally up to 25 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
