Southeast Regional Business Development Director

Join HDR as a Southeast Regional Business Development Director to lead growth and market share across the Southeast Region. You will drive net fee booked metrics, build relationships with key clients, and shape strategic initiatives within the HDR Water Business Group.

The Water Business Group focuses on delivering safe drinking water, wastewater treatment, and water resources solutions that support public health, environmental sustainability, and infrastructure resilience. HDR values inclusion, collaboration, and authentic contributions from all employees.

  • Primary Role & Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate with the Director of Business Development to identify, monitor, and support attainment of the regional net fee booked plan.
  • Lead strategic client development and engagement within the region.
  • Drive strategic and sector pursuit leadership, including major campaigns ($5M–$20M) and key opportunity qualification.
  • Work with market sector staff to develop and execute key initiatives from strategic planning sessions.
  • Align internal resources to client needs and the Path to Goal strategy.
  • Track net fee bookings and adjust projections as needed to achieve annual goals.
  • Assist in annual strategic planning and monitor operational metrics for the region.
  • Support staffing and recruitment of strategic hires.
  • Maintain the capability to travel and engage with clients in person.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Local candidates preferred.
  • Experience developing and implementing growth strategies.
  • Proven skillset managing marketing and business development teams across multiple regions.
  • Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 15 years relevant industry experience.
  • Self‑starter with a history of completing projects with limited oversight.
  • Deep knowledge of A/E/C procurement standards.
  • Strong motivation and inspiration skills.
  • Network building with clients and industry partners.
  • Effectiveness in sales and win strategies.
  • Strong financial acumen and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Willingness to travel and engage in-person.
  • Experience growing programs in highly competitive markets.
  • Experience winning high‑value contracts in the A/E/C industry.
  • Ability to write compelling content based on technical staff input.
