CEIS | Government is seeking a Senior HVAC Design Engineer to provide technical leadership and advanced engineering support for major design and construction programs. This role is embedded within a high-performing federal infrastructure project team in Greenville, SC, supporting complex environmental, industrial, and government projects.

As a senior technical contributor and area lead, the selected candidate will oversee HVAC system design, drive execution of engineering deliverables, support procurement and permitting activities, and mentor junior engineers. The role requires deep familiarity with design codes, technical analysis, and the ability to deliver high-quality engineered solutions in a schedule-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

Lead HVAC design development and serve as Area Lead for assigned scope on multidiscipline projects.

Review and prepare detailed HVAC engineering calculations, specifications, and drawings in accordance with client and project requirements.

Oversee development of system design criteria, sequence of operations, and control system strategies.

Support material and equipment procurement, including technical evaluations and vendor engagement.

Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, etc.), and federal regulations.

Track and forecast key material quantities, resource needs, and project deliverables.

Participate in risk assessments, constructability reviews, and safety-in-design evaluations.

Interface with project management, construction, and client stakeholders to support successful execution and resolve technical issues.

Mentor junior engineers and provide input to training materials, team development, and technical knowledge sharing.

Contribute to progress reports, staffing forecasts, and design reviews.

Support field resolution and project turnover activities as needed.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited program.

10+ years of relevant HVAC/mechanical design experience, including federal or industrial infrastructure projects.

Strong knowledge of HVAC system design, load calculations, ductwork layout, and equipment selection.

Ability to perform and check complex engineering analyses and calculations.

Proficiency in HVAC design software and standard office tools (e.g., Excel, AutoCAD, Word, Outlook).

Excellent communication skills and the ability to interface with clients, project teams, and external stakeholders.

Working knowledge of federal/national engineering statutes, codes, and safety guidelines.

Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and support design across project lifecycle phases.

Preferred Qualifications

Professional Engineering (PE) license.

Membership in ASHRAE or other relevant technical societies.

Experience with federal contracting, DOE, DOD, or GSA projects.

Familiarity with 3D model coordination and construction support.

Experience with Primavera scheduling and engineering workflow tools.
