Overview

These positions perform traffic direction and vehicle assistance, write parking citations, control pedestrian and vehicular movement, provide crowd control at events, open and secure areas as required, respond to non‑arrest emergencies, and keep accurate reports regarding fire, safety, enforcement of laws and college regulations. The nature of the job requires 24/7 coverage.

Responsibilities

  • Perform traffic direction and vehicle assistance duties.
  • Write parking citations and control access and movement of pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
  • Provide crowd control at events and open and secure areas as required.
  • Respond to and render aid in non‑arrest emergencies.
  • Keep accurate and complete reports and records regarding fire, safety, enforcement of laws and college regulations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in fire prevention, safety or security activities.
  • Excellent customer service skills and knowledge of safety, security and fire protection practices and techniques.
  • Ability to act quickly and intelligently in emergency situations and adjust to fluctuating situations.
  • Skills to investigate accidents, disturbances and violations; deal courteously and firmly with the general public; monitor and respond to audible/visual alarms; patrol on foot; respond to emergencies and assist emergency personnel as needed; work under extreme weather conditions.
