Senior Network Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to design and implement network solutions that support the business requirements of 400+ branch locations including 3 operation centers and one data center.
  • Execute enterprise network design (functional and technical), planning, and implementation.
  • Coordinate with SecOps to design, implement and support security policies, access controls, and data protection mechanisms.
  • Design, implement, test and maintain disaster recovery solutions for networking environments, collaborating with cloud engineering when necessary to ensure a robust communications backbone.
  • Work within our Service Cloud ticketing environment to accurately track, prioritize, and manage incidents, service requests and change management processes.
  • Work with business units to schedule after‑hours systems maintenance and independently execute with minimum supervision.
  • Lead, mentor and provide guidance to junior network administrators.
  • Lead efforts around capacity planning and optimization to ensure efficient network utilization, scalability and redundancy.
  • Collaborate with vendors and third‑party providers to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, and manage vendor relationships.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date documentation, including system configurations, processes and procedures, to facilitate knowledge sharing and enhance team efficiency.
  • Conduct regular audits and vulnerability assessments alongside the SecOps team to identify and mitigate security risks, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Mentor team members and serve as a point of escalation for network support requests.
  • Continuously stay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends and best practices related to networking and cyber security, then proactively apply that knowledge to improve system performance and reliability.
  • Test and troubleshoot multi‑homed, multi‑carrier internet BGP failover configurations.
  • Perform network capacity planning, anticipate future growth needs and recommend infrastructure upgrades or enhancements.
  • Participate in the evaluation and selection of new network hardware and software.
  • Coordinate with network equipment vendors and service providers to resolve issues and ensure the timely delivery of services.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or certification in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience.
  • 8+ years experience in a network engineering role with progressively responsible experience.
  • 8+ years implementing and administering network monitoring solutions utilizing industry‑leading solutions.
  • 5+ years hands‑on experience designing, implementing and supporting Fortinet solutions such as FortiSwitch, FortiGate, FortiAP, FortiManager and FortiMonitor.
  • 5+ years experience managing network‑based DNS and DHCP services.
  • 2+ years administering FortiGate or equivalent SD‑WAN solutions.
  • 2+ years experience with ZTNA technologies.
  • 1+ year experience as a technical team lead.
  • 1+ year experience with FortiAuthenticator and FortiAnalyzer.
  • Deep knowledge of routing protocols such as BGP.
  • Great interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to communicate with team members, other departments, upper management, and partners.
  • Ability to maintain a keen attention to detail, multi‑task and work well under pressure.
  • Natural tendency to be curious, positive and creative.
  • Cooperative ability to adapt and manage change in the workplace.
  • Sincere empathy for the customer and a commitment to delving deep into the challenges as they arise.
  • Ability to work after hours as required to support implementations, upgrades and escalated network incidents.
  • General understanding of geographically diverse IP scheme.
  • General understanding of governance and change control procedures.
  • Ample experience with remote office/branch deployment, teardown, upgrade and documentation.
  • Ample knowledge and deep understanding of basic networking protocols and technologies such as Spanning Tree, LACP, IPSec, BGP and OSPF.

Even Better

  • Mortgage industry experience.
  • One or more Fortinet certifications (FCP, FCSS, FCA).
  • Experience deploying and configuring FortiGate‑VM on Azure.
  • Cloud‑based networking experience (Azure/AWS).
  • Experience with Windows Server‑based technologies such as NPS (RADIUS), DNS, DHCP.
  • Experience with Jira/Confluence and Salesforce Service Cloud.
  • NinjaOne experience.

Salary Range

$116,700.00 – $159,900.00 (range for the position in other geographies may vary based on market differences; actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law).
