Your new role
The Content Transmission Specialist I primary tasks are to provide transmission services across News, Sports, and Entertainment. This position requires a willingness to learn and a basic knowledge of Broadcast Television, various transmission formats over satellite, fiber, and IP, related transmit and receive equipment, Warner Bros Discovery engineering infrastructure, transmission services and associated internal clients, and vendor services. Build a working knowledge or an understanding of the fulltime and occasional use receive and transmit infrastructure that connects Warner Bros Discovery, CNN bureaus and affiliates, vendors, and remote locations used for planned events and breaking news is required.
Candidate must work to become fully proficient in the current Scheduling System(s) used for provisioning transmissions, cost accruals and billing. Working closely with Business Administration on billing, reconciliation of disputes and discrepancies. The position requires constant daily interaction with staff and clients in receiving and provisioning transmission requests. Other requirements are the ability to work across the team and manage conflict between staff, clients, and vendors. Flexibility and understanding to propose or accept alternate transmission or technical solutions to meet customers' needs.
For assigned events and projects, work with customers, vendors, managers, staff, and others in gathering requirements, gaining approvals and consensus, and execution. Review and update standard operating procedure (SOP) documents and Internal platforms with management. Must work well under pressure, be able to multitask, be extremely detail oriented, have great organization skills, communicate effectively, and provide excellent customer service.
Candidate must be able to work under constantly changing pressure levels and rotating schedules, including overnights, weekends, and holidays as this is a 365/24/7 critical position to support the business.
The Content Transmission Specialist I reports to Operations Managers and Supervisors as direct reports to support the business.
Your role accountabilities
Operational and Technical Execution: Oversee daily operations of Content Transmission and address any technical problems, or on-air issues. Work with key customers on transmission requests, work intake, budgeting, provisioning, and processing.
Financial, Planning and Administrative: Maintain documents and update transmission scheduling systems databases, rates, and resolve accounting issues.
Workflow Efficiencies and Change Management: Look to define new and creative ways into implement workflow changes to gain efficiencies engaging the entire team. Active mentoring and communication with managers and staff.
Quality Control: Maintain continuous communication with Control Room and Newsroom to ensure optimal quality of live broadcasts and recorded feeds. Adjust audio, video, aspect ratios, and channel settings using various technologies. Monitor the quality of outgoing broadcasts and address any signal issues such as hits or distortions. Initiate notifications, assist in investigations, and document/report findings.
Qualifications & Experiences: Experience or knowledge of Broadcast TV transmissions and live remote events. Customer service and organizational skills. College Degree required, Communications or Technical concentration preferred. Not Required but preferred experience: Knowledge of transmission systems, technologies and providers. Previous Television, Broadcast to satellite or fiber industry experience.
