Manufacturing Business Analyst Microsoft Dynamics 365 (Information Technology)

Our client is seeking a skilled Manufacturing Business Analyst with strong knowledge of manufacturing operations and Microsoft Dynamics 365 (preferably D365 Finance & Operations). This role offers the opportunity to work closely with cross-functional teams in supply chain, manufacturing, procurement, and IT to deliver meaningful process improvements and system solutions.

Position Summary

The Manufacturing Business Analyst will be responsible for analyzing, designing, and optimizing supply chain processes across production planning, inventory management, warehouse management, and logistics. Acting as a liaison between business stakeholders and IT teams, the analyst ensures that business requirements are translated into effective D365 solutions that support operational excellence.

Duties and Responsibilities

Collaborate with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Procurement, and IT teams to gather and document business requirements.

Translate business needs into functional specifications, process flows, and use cases for Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O (particularly SCM modules).

Analyze current business processes and identify opportunities for improvement or automation within the ERP system.

Configure, test, and support D365 functionality related to:

  • Product Information Management setup of released products, product variants, item groups, BOM management, data integrity, etc.
  • Inventory & Warehouse Management configure hierarchies, wave templates, replenishment strategies, cycle counting, and stock accuracy.
  • Production Control setup and support of routes, operations, production orders, costing, and shop floor reporting.
  • Transportation Management configure transport modes, route planning, freight reconciliation, and logistics performance tracking.

Support data integrity standards across vendors, parts, BOMs, and routings.

Develop and execute test cases for UAT, integration, and regression testing.

Provide production support and user training for D365 supply chain users.

Assist with change requests, enhancements, and issue resolution using tools like Azure DevOps or ServiceNow.

Participate in ERP upgrades, rollouts, and cross-functional projects.

Partner with external vendors, consultants, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.

Skills and Competencies

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Creo, and PLC Software.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Industrial Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 57 years of experience as a Business Analyst or Functional Analyst in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, especially Supply Chain Management modules.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain processes (procure-to-pay, plan-to-produce, inventory control, logistics).
  • Familiarity with Logistics and Transportation Management systems.
  • Proven experience with business process mapping, gap analysis, and documentation.
  • ERP implementation or optimization experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint; familiarity with Azure DevOps and Power BI preferred.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
  • Experience with Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps).
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills to bridge technical and business discussions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Occasional travel to manufacturing or distribution facilities (up to 15%).
  • Hybrid or on-site depending on business needs and candidate location.
