PLC Technician

As a PLC Technician, you will be responsible for using RS Logix 5000, RS Logix 500, or RS Logix 5 software for machine troubleshooting. You will go online with Control Logix, Compact Logix, SLC500, or PLC5 using Ethernet I/P, DH+, or RS232, and download PLC programs if necessary. You will read and understand electrical schematics, use a multimeter, and work in control panels with up to 480VAC. Your role involves hands-on troubleshooting of machinery, utilizing root-cause analysis to investigate breakdowns and line stoppages, and collaborating with other departments.

Responsibilities:

  • Prioritize work to ensure timely maintenance, repair, and installation of equipment, tools, and utility systems to minimize manufacturing downtime.
  • Complete all required paperwork and documentation in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Repair or maintain the operating condition of industrial production or processing machinery or equipment, including inspection, assembly, disassembly, and replacement as necessary.
  • Observe and test the operation of machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions using voltmeters or other testing devices.
  • Operate newly repaired machinery or equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs.
  • Analyze test results, machine error messages, or information obtained from operators to diagnose equipment problems.
  • Inspect operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational and safety performance standards.

Essential Skills:

  • PLC programming and troubleshooting
  • VFDs and electrical schematics
  • Hands-on experience with maintenance and industrial machinery
  • Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Understanding of 3-phase systems
  • Experience with conveyer systems and industrial maintenance

Work Environment:

You will work Monday through Friday from 6 AM to 2 PM in a facility that is somewhat climate-controlled, though it can get hotter in the summer and colder in the winter.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
