Isuzu North America is seeking a driven and experienced Facilities Operations Manager to help launch operation initiatives at our new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Greenville County, South Carolina.

About the Facility:

Isuzu North America Corporation is investing approximately $280 million to establish a new production facility in Greenville County, South Carolina. This 1 million-square-foot, state-of-the-art plant-set on over 200 acres-will feature a flexible production line capable of manufacturing both internal combustion and electric vehicles. Production will include the N-Series Gas, N-Series Electric, and F-Series Diesel trucks. Operations are expected to launch in 2027, with expansion slated for 2028. Strategically located near I-85, I-26, and the Port of Charleston, the site supports streamlined logistics and consolidated operations under one roof. This initiative is projected to create over 700 new jobs in the area.

Job Summary:

The Inspection Supervisor oversees daily operations within the Inspection Section to ensure that in-line and final vehicle inspections meet established quality, safety, and production standards. This role is responsible for leading inspection personnel, enforcing inspection procedures, resolving quality issues, and driving continuous improvement to prevent defect recurrence.

The Supervisor reports directly to the Inspection Section Manager and supervises Team Leaders and Inspectors. The position bridges the company's strategic direction with hands-on floor leadership-promoting a disciplined, safe, and quality-focused work environment that supports efficient production flow.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supervise all in-line and final inspection activities to ensure product quality, safety compliance, and adherence to inspection standards.
  • Enforce safety and process control requirements; conduct safety talks and inspections to promote a proactive safety culture.
  • Monitor inspection flow and takt-time adherence; identify bottlenecks, coordinate recovery actions, and ensure inspection targets are achieved.
  • Direct and support team members by assigning daily tasks, providing on-the-job training, coaching performance, and maintaining discipline.
  • Identify and resolve quality concerns in coordination with Quality, Engineering, and Production teams; drive containment action, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure accurate inspection documentation, defect traceability, and audit readiness in compliance with ISO and regulatory requirements.
  • Apply 5S and lean principles to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment.
  • Plan and execute section-level actions in line with departmental strategies and production policies.
  • Lead or support improvement initiatives to enhance inspection processes, reduce rework, and prevent defect recurrence.
  • Participate in interdepartmental communication and support activities related to inspection or quality matters.
  • Support pre-acceptance and post-installation validation of inspection equipment to ensure functionality, accuracy, and compliance with specifications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support department and company goals.
Required Education, Training & Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelors Degree in Engineering preferred
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in inspection or quality work within automotive manufacturing
  • Minimum 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
  • In-depth knowledge of production line operations and inspection equipment
  • Strong understanding of vehicle structure, functions, and truck systems
  • Familiarity with inspection jigs and tools
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards
  • Leadership and communication skills that promote collaboration and guidance
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities to address issues in quality, safety, and labor
  • Ability to execute improvement activities and foster a quality- and safety-focused culture
  • Human resource development and team motivation abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and email systems
  • Ability to document and revise work procedures and training content
  • Willingness and ability to complete job training in Japan (approximately 3 weeks)
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work on-site in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, machinery, and varying temperatures
  • Ability to climb, bend, reach, stand for extended periods, or occasionally lift materials (up to 25 lbs) as needed for operational oversight
  • Comfortable wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety shoes, glasses, and hearing protection in designated areas
  • Strong visual acuity and manual dexterity for inspection and document review
  • Must be available to work flexible hours as necessary in support of production
