The Carolina Center for Behavioral Health is currently looking for a Certified Recreation, Art, Dance, or Music Therapist to join our team of dedicated professionals.

The Carolina Center for Behavioral Health is a 156-bed private behavioral health system located on 13 acres in the Greenville, South Carolina area. Specializing in psychiatric programs and substance abuse treatments such as detox and rehab, The Carolina Center serves Greenville, Spartanburg, Anderson, and areas throughout South Carolina and western North Carolina. Programs are available at various levels of care to accommodate the severity of every patient's condition: inpatient, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient treatment.

Position Summary

Serve as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team

Provide therapeutic recreational, music and activity services to geriatric, adult and adolescent patients

Assess patients' level of functioning and need for adjunctive therapy services

Develop and implement activity therapy treatment plans in concert with the interdisciplinary treatment team

Maintain the clinical and administrative documentation associated with services rendered

Participate in the ongoing implementation of the department's or service's continuous quality improvement plan

Participate in special assignments and projects in interest of organization

Participate in activities which enhance professional growth and development

Demonstrate conduct in keeping with CCBH's ethical standards

Comply with facility safety, infection control and security program

Support facility service excellence standards

Qualifications

We are looking to interview applicants for recreation therapy, music therapy, art therapy, or dance therapy training and/or experience! Bachelors' degree in relevant field and Recreation, Art, Music or Dance Therapy Certification required. College level reading, writing, and math skills; assessment, evaluation, and interpretation skills; flexibility; time management and organization skills; teaching or training skills helpful; knowledge of psychiatric and addictive disease diagnoses and treatment; understanding of DSM-IV methodology; inpatient psychiatric experience preferred. Willing to work flexible hours and willing to travel, including overnight, in work capacity; must exert self-control in volatile or hostile situations; able to respond well to deadlines.

Physical and Mental Requirements of the Job: Ability to exercise self-control in potentially volatile situations such as being verbally or physically confronted in a threatening or aggressive manner. Able to reach, walk and stand for sustained periods of time; able to move about quickly on foot; able to finger, grasp (sometimes using repetitive motions) and lift objects, raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position; able to push using upper extremities to press against something with steady force; able to express and exchange ideas via spoken word to convey detailed information in an audible, accurate and possible quick manner; able to perceive the nature of sounds with no less than a 40 dB loss @ Hz, 1000 Hz, and 20000 Hz, with or without correction; able to make fine discriminations in sound. Work requires the occasional exertion of up to 30 pounds of force to lift, carry push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Visual acuity required adequate for reading, preparing and analyzing data, transcription, and characters on computer terminal; visual inspection of documents. Must be able to concentrate on work amidst distractions such as noise, conversations and foot traffic; must be able to consistently meet deadlines regardless of case load; must be flexible in work hours in order to meet patient and hospital operating needs.
