About the Role

We're seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to lead engineering and design for heavy industrial projects (power, chemical, pulp & paper, metals, manufacturing). You'll drive scope from concept through IFC, coordinating across disciplines and vendors to deliver safe, code-compliant, constructible designs.

What You'll Do

  • Own electrical scope, budget, and schedule; plan and oversee design activities.

  • Develop and check deliverables: load lists, single-line diagrams, motor elementaries, electrical room layouts, grounding/lighting plans & details, power plans with raceway routing, cable lists, and equipment specifications.

  • Apply NEC/NFPA and hazardous area classification (Class/Div or Zone) to drive equipment selection and layouts.

  • Produce PFD/P&ID inputs, interpret process equipment lists, and align with GA drawings.

  • Lead interdisciplinary coordination; integrate with civil/structural, mechanical, process, and I&C.

  • Review vendor submittals; extract electrical requirements and resolve gaps.

  • Support field walks, data gathering, and construction/commissioning queries.

  • Build/maintain design schedules and logic ties with other disciplines.

  • Lead and mentor electrical engineers/designers; perform QA/QC of calculations and drawings.

What You'll Bring

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering (ABET); ability to obtain P.E. is required.

  • 10+ years in consulting/industrial electrical design.

  • Deep knowledge of NEC, power distribution (MV/LV), equipment specs, hazardous locations, grounding, and lighting.

  • Demonstrated experience turning process information (P&IDs, equipment lists) into complete electrical scope.

  • Proven cross-discipline coordination and vendor interface skills.

  • AutoCAD and Revit proficiency; strong Word/Excel/Outlook.

  • Clear written/verbal communication; analytical, organized, and proactive.

  • Experience leading project teams and mentoring junior staff.

  • Willingness to travel to client sites for field data and reviews.

Nice to Have

  • Prior EPC/EPCM or owner's engineer experience in heavy industry.

  • Familiarity with arc-flash studies, short-circuit/coordination, and construction support workflows.
