Electrical Engineer - Medium/High Voltage

The Need:

This opportunity is for an Electrical Engineer with *Meduim-High voltage experience at our client's Central Engineering headquarters, located in Greenville, South Carolina. This team of Engineers is responsible for the successful implementation of major capital projects throughout North America. These state-of-the-art projects relate to new and upgraded material handling, material preparation, and production processes at manufacturing facilities throughout the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. *Medium voltage in this context is between 600V and 69KV.

Location: Greenville, SC (Onsite)
Contract: Long-term with possible CTH after 6 months
Work Schedule and Travel:

  • Normal work hours 40 hrs/ week Monday - Friday, however occasional shifts in schedules will be made to provide coverage for project installations and start-ups requiring weekend or holiday coverage.
  • Overtime work may be approved as needed but will not be typical.
  • Work Plant Shutdowns as needed. This work could and will fall on weekends & Holidays.
  • Work schedules will vary based on project need and assignment.
  • Expected travel up to 30%
Work Status: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (Green Card or US Citizen only)

Day-to-day job responsibilities:
  • Provide support to get technical project specifications from project leader and team.
  • Provide support to get full detailed design packages from internal or external engineering providers.
  • Provide estimates and technical schedules for all phases of equipment additions, replacements, or upgrades.
  • Provide backup support and training as needed to plant maintenance teams on new equipment or systems.
  • Be integral part of Process and Plant groups to accomplish objectives and provide contractor management and direction as needed.
  • Work with Purchasing to bid and procure necessary parts and services.
  • Be key point in schedule negotiations and working relations with Utility providers as needed.
  • Participate as team member assigned to major capital projects and/or modifications from start to finish, including equipment reception, commissioning, and acceptance.
  • Provide completed documentation and as-built drawing packages to the site team of the project
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, or equivalent technical experience along with field work leading, coordinating and/or participating in multidisciplinary projects in a commercial building or manufacturing plant environment. (i.e. projects that have a mix of mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering deliverables)
  • 3-5 years' experience in Medium and High Voltage applications
  • Experience with electrical design standards and NEC regulations and NFPA 70E standards and requirements.

  • To provide effective "boots-on-the ground" communications to the central team concerning all potential challenges to mitigate delays or additional costs, strong communication skills and team involvement ability are essential.
