Job Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITIONS:

  • Main interface to the customer (and internal groups) to ensure key dimensional characteristics are meeting the customer requirements.
  • Responsible for leading and developing the dimensional control processes associated with upcoming program launch and continuing to oversee into series production.
  • Responsible for the programming, maintaining, and operating of measurement equipment used to ensure dimensional compliance of product.
  • Monitor and manage the reactionary processes for data generated via the above equipment and gathered from additional in-process sensors.
  • Schedule, coordinate and report using cross-functional meetings to address internal and external dimensional concerns.
  • Responsible for leading and validating corrective actions (on-time closures, repeat concerns, root cause, etc) relating to dimensional concerns (both internal and external) through completion.
  • Perform analysis and make decisions on suspect dimensional product concerns using internal and external sources, as required.
  • Responsible for meeting customer targets, ie. PPM, incident rates, RMA's.
  • Conduct daily product data reviews to verify stability of the process.
  • Develop and implement dimensional improvement plans for responsible customer product.
  • Onsite visits with customer to address dimensional quality issues, as needed.
  • Responsible to support the reduction of RPN values in FMEA's, as needed.
  • Interface with Drive support teams to ensure dimensional stability is being met as per customer requirements (mean shifts and SPC data).
  • Perform other duties as required
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Communication Skills
  • Ability to effectively present dimensional topics to the customer directly and organize associated actions in a clearly presentable fashion.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with colleagues on quality improvements.
Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations - CMM Data interpretation.
Reasoning Ability
  • Knowledgeable in the latest customer quality systems requirements.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities using advanced problem solving techniques.
  • Strong organizational, leadership and interpersonal skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Physical Demands / Work Environment
    • Shop Floor Workstation: 60% sitting/standing at desk; 40% walking
    • Lifting as required up to 50 lbs.
EDUCATION:
  • 4-year Engineering degree preferred, or 5-7 years minimum experience in a dimensional engineering role.
WORK EXPERIENCE / TECHNICAL TRAINING:
  • GOMs / Zeiss Programming (Certification Preferred)
  • Polyworks Inspect Programing (Certification Preferred)
  • Statistical Process Control Management
  • Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) preferred
  • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
EQUIPMENT / TOOLS USED
  • Zeiss Scanbox Series 5, with Atos 5 Sensor (Zeiss Inspect)
  • Leica Tracking Scanner (Polyworks Inspect)
  • MAPVision
  • Excel, SAP, computers, graphs, calipers, micrometers, scales, and other handheld measuring gages.
