Senior Director of the Institute for Child and Family

In cooperation with Epworths COO, ensure the work and mission of Epworths Institute for Child and Family Wellbeing is performed according to the adopted policies, procedures and by-laws in order to secure the unified progression of every Center toward the organizational strategic plan.

Primary Performance Objectives:

  • Develop philosophical and cultural alignment within the Institute to promote child and family wellbeing.
  • Development of Centers under the Institute to provide a continuum of care to all ages needing services including preventative and residential care.
  • Develop and lead a strong and unified leadership team that works in harmony to advance Epworths Institute for child and family wellbeing as well as the overarching organizations mission and philosophy.
  • Pursue new opportunities to expand our service array including state agency procured services that would further the Mission and Values of Epworths Institute of Child and Family Wellbeing.

Job Task Summary:

  • Ensure all Centers under the Institute are operating within budget expectations and evaluate accordingly as needs arise.
  • Ensure the continuous positive advancement of Epworth publically and programatically through the development and maintenance of healthy relationships with staff, volunteers, churches and community leaders.
  • Oversee and assure overall compliance with all Centers under the Institute.
  • Use PQI data to drive best practice, make changes when needed, and assure continuation of accreditation.
  • Conduct research to further the cause of the Institute and best practice in the Centers.
  • Oversee strategic planning to continue the growth of additional Centers.
  • Collaborate with the University of South Carolina and other partners to develop and use measurement methods for success or improvement strategies.
  • Evaluate best practice models for each center, acquiring evidence based practice (EBPs) models as necessary, assuring EBPs are embedded in the culture of practice at Epworth, and assuring fidelity to each EBP model.
  • Oversee the collection of data from each center as a monitoring and evaluation tool for assuring fidelity, and provide these data to the CEO and COO for the purpose of determining accomplishment of the overall Institute outcomes.
  • Develop partnerships which impact the Centers that go beyond the walls of Epworth, but which can have an impact on childrens success as they receive services from ECH.
  • Work with the Methodist churches as partners with each Center, primarily those which involve the need for local community services and growing the reach of the Institute.
  • Oversee growth of each Center under the Institute.
  • Coordinate with the COO, CEO and VP of Development regarding fund raising efforts which would benefit the Institute and its Centers.
  • Develop and coordinate media and other publications which describe the Institute and its success.
  • Oversee foster home recruitment and coordinating efforts with the state agencies on service array development.
  • Manage personnel in each Center.
  • Supervise risk management for the Institute.
  • Develop and oversee execution of plans to seek COA accreditation for new Centers.
  • Attend appropriate internal and external meetings to coordinate Institute efforts.
  • Serve as a resource for the Chief Operating Officer as needed.
  • Participate as appropriate in the PQI process as assigned.
  • Understands and follows personnel policies and practices as outlined in the ECH Staff Manual and/or department manuals and in compliance with the state governing regulations, COA and evidence based practice models

Supervision Responsibilities:

  • Directors of Centers under the umbrella of the Institute and Administrative Support.
  • Director of Training and Evidence Based Practices
  • Director of Clinical Outcomes and Quality Assurance

Qualifications for the Position:

  • Licensed within the state of South Carolina including a LISW, LPC or a LMFT preferred.
  • Masters degree and a minimum of 5 years experience in a supervisory role in a child welfare/non-profit setting required.
  • Proficient in software programs necessary to administration, communication, and training, such as MS Office and Windows.
  • Must be able to pass standard background checks, including: drug screen, employment physical, FBI fingerprint check, SLED, DSS Central Registry, and Sex Offenders Registry.
  • Has a belief system and engages in faith practices that are compatible with those of the United Methodist Church.
