We are looking for teammates who are:

What you will do:


You will lead the teams that protect our agency and investigate criminal tax activity. You will oversee operations, guide skilled law enforcement professionals, and work with leadership and partner agencies to uphold South Carolinas tax laws and safeguard its revenue.


Primary job duties include:



  • Overseeing and directing the investigative and administrative operations of criminal investigations

  • Overseeing and directing the protective and administrative operations of protective servicesWorking directly with the Deputy Director to develop, implement, and assist with strategic and operational planning and budgeting to achieve short and long term objectives and effectively communicate those objectives to staff and management

  • Evaluating and preparing reports of investigations into criminal tax activities and making recommendations

  • Assisting the Attorney General and the Solicitors office in the prosecution of criminal cases brought by the SCDOR

  • Recruiting, hiring, supervising, and training investigative and protective services staff


Requires all of the following:



  • A bachelors degree

  • Experience supervising law enforcement personnel at a public law enforcement agency

  • Certification by the Law Enforcement Training Council in accordance with Section 23-23-40 of the Code of Laws of South Carolina 1976


Additional requirement:


A valid Drivers License. May require statewide travel and overnight stay.


Academic degrees must be from an accredited institution of higher learning.



  • Minimum of eighteen semester hours in accounting and six years of experience in tax or auditing

  • Advanced degree in business, taxation, government administration, or organizational leadership

  • Knowledge of all State tax laws, civil audit procedures, criminal investigator procedures, and modern law enforcement techniques

  • Knowledge of the legal rights of both suspects and law enforcement personnel
