Chemical Process Engineer (Subject Matter Expert)

Greenville, SC (Hybrid: 23 days in office required)

Assignment End Date: 12/31/2025 (with possibility of extension) We are seeking an experienced

Chemical Process Engineer

to serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in engineering design for the

oil and gas

and

alternative fuels/energy

industries. This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse and challenging projects, collaborating across disciplines and mentoring future engineering talent.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as SME for designs in the oil and gas and alternative fuels/energy industries.
  • Review and evaluate conceptual and detailed engineering designs.
  • Solve complex engineering challenges using industry best practices and advanced tools.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, project management, and clients to deliver fully coordinated projects.
  • Perform quality reviews on designs developed by others.
  • Mentor junior engineers in engineering principles and applications.
  • Support the development of proposals, budgets, and schedules for process-specific work.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • Minimum 10+ years of engineering design experience in oil and gas and alternative fuels/energy industries.
  • Minimum 20+ years of total engineering design experience as a facilities/plant or consulting engineer.
  • Proficiency with PipeFlo (Professional and Compressible), AFT Fathom, and HTRI.
  • Experience with relief device calculations, including complex cases.
  • Familiarity with unit operations such as Gasification, Syngas Processing, Methanol/Ethanol Handling, Distillation, Evaporation, Centrifugation, Drying, Solids Handling, and Specialty Gas Handling.
  • Experience leading and mentoring engineering teams.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of ASPEN Plus, ASPEN Batch, and/or PRO/II.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
