The City of Greer is currently accepting applications for a Municipal Judge in our Courts.

Responsibilities: Hear and decide cases involving traffic violations, violations of city ordinances, and certain minor criminal offenses. Preside over preliminary hearings, bond hearings, motion hearings, and bench and jury trials. Review and issue arrest warrants and search warrants when probable cause is established. Issue other Orders as necessary. Determine and impose sentences, fines, and other appropriate penalties in accordance with state and local laws. Establish and maintain proper procedures and order within the courtroom. Must display good judicial temperament. Keep current on federal, state, and local laws, as well as Supreme Court directives and local court rules. Know judicial procedure and rules of evidence as well as the organization, duties, powers, limitations, and authority of the Municipal Court. Must be available for after-hours court matters and legal emergencies. Communicate and collaborate with law enforcement, court personnel, and the public. Conduct legal research to support decision-making and stay informed on current laws.

Job Requirements: Must Possess a Juris Doctorate degree from an American Bar Association-accredited law school. South Carolina Bar Membership: Be a member in good standing with the South Carolina Bar. Be at least 21 years of age. Must complete required training set by the SC Supreme Court. Attend required annual training to meet continuing education requirements in criminal law and related subjects. Must have criminal trial experience. Must have at least five years' experience as a practicing attorney in South Carolina. Must be well versed in all aspects of the court system. Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.

Hours: Hours may vary due to the needs of the Court
