Job Summary

Lead Engineer – Service Engineering at GE Vernova in Richmond, VA. Provide technical guidance, oversight of complex repairs, root cause analysis, and collaborate with global steam turbine design teams to deliver safe, reliable, and quality product solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical guidance to field engineers and service managers during outage planning and execution.
  • Lead service center complex repairs on rotors, diaphragms, casings, valves, and other rotating equipment.
  • Act as single point of contact and technical interface for complex repair projects with sales, customer service managers, sourcing, engineering, and quality teams.
  • Drive on-time engineering deliverables and technical requirements for repair projects.
  • Apply lean methodologies to ensure robust daily management, engineering deliverables, and continuous improvement centered on Safety, Quality, Deliver & Cost.
  • Provide inspection and test plans for site assembly/disassembly and for service center repair scope.
  • Lead product qualification processes for service shops, design reviews, and technical risk discussions with internal and external customers.
  • Provide technical recommendations during outage planning phase to internal and external customers.
  • Guide parts engineering and sourcing teams for product design form, fit and function.
  • Support implementation of corrective and preventive actions through root cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with sales, service, and parts engineering groups to provide technical direction and guidance.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 4+ years of experience in steam turbine service engineering.
  • Minimum 2+ years of field execution experience, preferably within the power generation industry.

Desired Technical Skills

  • Good understanding of steam turbine and balance of plant systems and operations.
  • Experience with steam turbine rotating and stationary component inspection methods and repairs.
  • Exposure to steam turbine disassembly, assembly, startup, and operations.

Base Pay Range

$98,000 – $164,000 per year
