Warehouse Operations and Materials Lead

Are you ready to lead and innovate in warehouse operations?

Our client is seeking a dynamic leader to oversee warehouse operations and materials management. This role is pivotal in ensuring seamless inventory management, resolving operational challenges, and coordinating materials to support manufacturing and customer deliveries. You'll be the Subject Matter Expert in one of several key focus areas, driving standardization and training across teams.

**This role is based in the Southeast U.S. All candidates must be open to relocation.

  • Education / Experience:
    • Associate degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Transportation, or a Business-related field with 5 years of supervisory or warehouse experience in a manufacturing environment, or
    • High School Diploma/GED with 8 years of relevant supervisory experience.
    • Six Sigma or Lean certification preferred.
    • Experience managing large warehouse teams across multiple shifts.
  • Required Skills / Competencies:
    • Knowledge of warehouse and inventory control concepts (FIFO, Kanban, cycle counting, etc.).
    • Strong organizational and supervisory skills.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Proficiency with computer applications (Word, Excel, Access, ERP systems).
    • Ability to foster a strong safety culture in the workplace.
    • Coaching and mentoring skills.
    • Employee relations knowledge and HR practices familiarity.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Essential Responsibilities:
    • Supervise shift supervisors to maintain accurate inventory, receiving, and shipping operations.
    • Resolve operational issues to ensure smooth warehouse performance.
    • Coach and manage warehouse staff to achieve departmental goals.
    • Coordinate materials to prevent disruption to manufacturing or shipping.
    • Interface with stakeholders to maintain accurate material flow and data.
    • Resolve receiving/shipping discrepancies to minimize inventory variance.
    • Identify and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
    • Collaborate with HR to address employee relations issues promptly.
    • Serve as SME in one of the following focus areas:
      • Material Handling Equipment Management, Maintenance & Safety
      • Inventory / Space Management & Optimization
      • Audit & Compliance
      • Finished Goods Process & Optimization
      • Warehouse End-to-End Process & Continuous Improvement
      • Project & People Management
      • Material Handling Process & Optimization
    • Manage internal and external warehouse operations supporting manufacturing.
    • Control warehouse expenses according to budget.
    • Maintain accurate work instructions and procurement compliance for SOX and ISO standards.
    • Drive safety culture and practices within the warehouse.
    • Lead management, customer, and auditor walkthroughs.
    • Maintain warehouse housekeeping and 5S standards.
    • Ensure timely preventive maintenance of equipment, tools, and material handling systems.
    • Support plant startup, equipment installation, and technology upgrades.
    • Coordinate interplant logistics and trucking operations.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Reporting Relationships:
    • This position has direct reports.
  • Travel:
    • 5-10% travel required.
    • Training at other company locations may be required during plant start-up.
