Industrial Hygienist (Junior * Mid * Senior)

Jr. Level Pay Range: $65-$84/hour, depending on location and benefits selected.

Mid-Level Pay Range: $78-$100/hr, depending on location and benefits selected.

Sr. Level Pay Range: $92-$116/hr, depending on location and benefits selected.

GSA reimbursable per diem is available for all levels to those who qualify.

Overview

The Industrial Hygienist series covers three levels: Junior, Mid-level, and Senior. These professionals anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and control workplace hazards to protect employee health and maintain regulatory compliance. Responsibilities and expectations increase with each level of progression, from assisting in inspections and exposure monitoring at the Junior level, to independently managing industrial hygiene programs at the Mid-level, to leading and supervising complex programs and serving as a subject matter expert at the Senior level.

Responsibilities (Progress by Level)

• Conduct air, noise, and environmental sampling to ensure workplace safety and compliance (all levels).
• Assist in or lead exposure monitoring, incident investigations, and hazard assessments.
• Develop, implement, and manage industrial hygiene programs such as respiratory protection and hearing conservation (Mid and Senior).
• Prepare detailed reports and communicate findings to management and regulatory bodies.
• Senior staff provide mentorship and serve as subject matter experts; Junior staff support inspections, training, and data collection.

• Junior: Assist with inspections, exposure monitoring, data collection, and basic training; maintain accurate records.
• Mid-level: Independently design and execute monitoring strategies, analyze results, and ensure regulatory compliance; collaborate with engineers and safety specialists.
• Senior: Lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive IH programs; represent the company in regulatory interactions and mentor junior staff.
• Across all levels: Maintain compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations; support Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability initiatives.

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or a related scientific field (required for Mid and Senior; strongly preferred for Junior).
• Experience:
• * Junior: 0-3 years of industrial hygiene or related EHS experience.
• * Mid-level: 4-10 years of industrial hygiene experience.
• * Senior: 11+ years of progressive experience, including program management and leadership responsibilities.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.

• Junior: Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study with no required work experience; or a combination of education and experience equal to four (4) years if non-degreed.
• Mid-level: Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent with four (4) years of work-related experience; or a combination equal to eight (8) years if non-degreed.
• Senior: Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent with eight (8) years of work-related experience; or a combination equal to twelve (12) years if non-degreed.
• Ability to communicate effectively with management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors.
• Job-related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job.
• Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a time-conscious and effective manner.

• Experience in nuclear construction and/or prior work with the Department of Energy (DOE) or National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA).
• Professional certifications such as CIH, ASP, or CSP, depending on level.
• Experience in chemical manufacturing or power plant settings.
• Master's degree in a related field is preferred, particularly for Senior-level roles.
