Work Year: 190 Days / 7.5 Hours per Day

TeachAOP is an alternative certification program approved by the State Board of Education (SBE) and offered through a partnership among Anderson School Districts 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, the School District of Oconee County, and the School District of Pickens County.

Position Requirements

  • Eligible for, or currently enrolled in, TeachAOP, an alternative certification program leading to certification in the following areas: Special Education (Multicategorical), Business and Marketing Education, PE, Middle and Secondary Math and Science.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Commitment to completing all requirements necessary to obtain full professional certification.

General Statement of Job

The Teacher reports directly to the school Principal and is responsible for promoting student learning and growth. Teachers hired through an alternative certification pathway will receive guidance and support from administrators, mentor teachers, and district staff to ensure success in the classroom.

Teachers are expected to fulfill assigned duties in compliance with district policies, state and federal laws, and certification program requirements. After-school time may be required to assist students, collaborate with parents, and complete professional responsibilities.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions
  1. Participate fully in mentoring, training, and professional development provided by the district and certification program.
  2. Plan and implement effective lessons that support student achievement and meet diverse learning needs.
  3. Develop knowledge of curriculum, instructional practices, and student development to create meaningful learning experiences.
  4. Use assessment data to guide instruction and monitor student progress.
  5. Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
  6. Establish and maintain a safe, respectful, and engaging classroom environment.
  7. Collaborate with colleagues to support student learning and school goals.
  8. Demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  9. Support school-wide initiatives and carry out additional duties as assigned by the Principal or Superintendent's designee.

Additional Requirements
  • Ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Good physical and mental health.
  • Ability to respond to unexpected situations calmly and appropriately.
  • Ability to pass the Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) requirements (if applicable).
  • Successful completion of an extensive background investigation.
