Description:

Role Summary

We are hiring a Senior Power BI & Microsoft Fabric Consultant / Data Engineer to design and deliver analytics solutions that directly support analytics solutions for our clients. The role emphasizes Power BI and Microsoft Fabric, but experience with other BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Infor Birst, Qlik) and supporting ETL techniques is also valuable. Candidates must be comfortable working directly with business users or clients to gather requirements, design solutions, and ensure adoption. Broader data engineering and governance skills are a plus, but this is a BI-focused role.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize Power BI dashboards, reports, and semantic models (DAX, Power Query).
  • Architect and manage Microsoft Fabric solutions (Lakehouses, Warehouses, Dataflows Gen2, DirectLake).
  • Partner with end users and stakeholders to capture requirements, demo solutions, and drive adoption.
  • Build and maintain ETL/ELT processes using Microsoft-native tools (Azure Data Factory, Synapse Pipelines, Fabric Dataflows Gen2, SSIS).
  • Leverage dbt or other SQL-based transformation frameworks where applicable.
  • Support BI deployment pipelines using Git-based workflows (Azure DevOps, GitHub).
  • Provide documentation, standards, and mentoring to support BI best practices.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in BI, analytics, or data engineering roles with a BI focus.
  • Power BI expertise (DAX, semantic modeling, deployment pipelines).
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric components.
  • Strong SQL and experience with cloud data platforms (Azure preferred; AWS acceptable).
  • Familiarity with ETL tools most relevant to Power BI & Fabric: Azure Data Factory, Synapse Pipelines, SSIS, dbt, or equivalent SQL-based frameworks.
  • Demonstrated consulting or user-facing experience - requirement gathering, workshops, solution delivery.
  • Exposure to other BI tools such as Tableau, Infor Birst, Qlik, or Looker.
  • Understanding of governance, access control, and performance optimization.
Preferred / Valued Experience
  • Microsoft certifications (Power BI, Fabric, or Azure).
  • Experience with data governance/catalog tools such as Microsoft Purview (or Alation/Collibra).
  • Exposure to cloud warehouses/lakehouses such as Snowflake or Databricks (alongside Synapse).
  • Experience integrating data via APIs or OData connectors.
  • Basic AI/ML dataset preparation (e.g., preparing data for predictive analytics).
  • Python or PySpark for transformations.
  • Experience with data migrations (on-premises to cloud).
Why This Role
  • Lead BI initiatives with Microsoft's latest analytics stack.
  • Work directly with users and customers.
  • Exposure to a variety of BI tools, ETL techniques, and governance practices without heavy data engineering emphasis.
