Job Details

Serves as crew foreman supervising personnel to perform various construction, repair, and preservation activities of roads and bridges with in a county or district. Functions as a working supervisor, operates motorized equipment in a variety of maintenance activities as needed in the absence of regular equipment operators. Plans and schedules routine and preventive maintenance activities as well as investigates citizen work requests; prioritizes and schedules the necessary work. Devises a daily schedule for work to be performed by maintenance crew. Determines proper equipment, materials, and labor needed in order to complete tasks. Performs inspections of the roads on the state highway system looking for deficiencies, entering them into the work request system. Instructs crew members daily in safety practices, completes job hazard assessment forms, mitigates risks, and conducts safety meeting prior to the commencement of work activities.
