Normal Work Schedule (Other):

Monday - Thursday (8:00 am - 5:30 pm); Friday (8:30 am - 12:00 pm). Flexible work schedule may be required during peak periods.

Reporting to the Director of Financial Aid and Veterans Affairs the Financial Aid Coordinator counsels s tudents, prospective students, and parents on matters related to institutional, federal, and state student financial aid programs and alternative sources and methods of financing educational costs. Completes weekly reports, makes, and revises financial aid awards, and resolves issues in a professional customer-focused manner. Represents the Office of Financial Aid at campus events and student orientation and training sessions. Assists with administration of private loan programs by completing private loan disbursements; assisting financial aid staff and lending agencies with loan issues and questions; and coordinating private loan reconciliation and returns with other college offices. Coordinates efforts on Default Management for student loan borrowers.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

Bachelor's Degree and experience in student services programs.

Considerable knowledge of the federal, state and college guidelines for administering financial aid programs. Ability to be sensitive to the concerns of economically disadvantaged students and parents; diffuse difficult situations/conversations; work independently; administer complex procedures and regulations; establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the general public; communicate effectively verbally and in writing; and research and resolve complex issues. Must be detailed-oriented and capable of working with efficiency and accuracy. Effective interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Two years of professional experience in student financial aid highly desired. Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Ellucian software preferred.
