The Machinist creates and designs machine parts by analyzing specifications, metal stock, setting-up and operating machine tools, and fit and assemble parts, and repair cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and miscellaneous components using appropriate Tool Room equipment to complete the job in the most efficient manner.n. Duties and Responsibilitiesnn. Analyzes work orders, blueprints, sketches, models, and/or descriptions to visualize shape of a part or tool and determine material requiredn. Inputs dimensions, plan layout, and determines assembly method of sequence of operationn. Responsible for heat treating all partsn. Cuts, shapes, and trims prototypes to specified length or shape by using appropriate Tool Room equipmentn. Layout stock for machiningn.
