The IT Security Specialist II supports the protection of TCTC's information systems by implementing and managing security tools, controls, and processes across hybrid environments. The specialist addresses system risks, supports incident response, and ensures compliance through secure configurations, access management, and user awareness initiatives. The successful candidate must work under limited supervision, must be able to work, research, and display quality judgement and discretion. This position requires some evening and weekend hours for customer support and maintenance. Must be able to lift/move 40 pounds. This position requires travel to other campus locations.

Job Duties:

• Security Operations and Risk Mitigation- Implements and manages security controls across hybrid environments (on-premises and cloud). Administers Microsoft Defender A5, Defender for Email, and Fortinet firewalls/SASE to detect and respond to threats. Conducts vulnerability assessments and coordinates remediation efforts to reduce risk and enhance system security.
• Identity and Access Management- Manages identity and access controls using Microsoft Entra as the primary IDP. Secures SaaS applications (e.g., Microsoft 365, Salesforce) using vendor-recommended best practices and configuration baselines. Assesses access requirements and translates them into functional security specifications.
• Patch and Configuration Management- Oversees patch management for Windows and Linux systems to ensure timely remediation of vulnerabilities. Develops and maintains secure baseline configurations for operating systems, applications, and cloud services.
• Incident Response and Continuity Planning- Collaborates with the CISO to develop, test, and maintain incident response and disaster recovery plans. Ensures backup systems are immutable, tested regularly, and aligned with recovery objectives. Participates in post-incident reviews and process improvements.
• Security Governance and Awareness-Develops technical documentation including security designs, workflows, and procedures. Participates in the development and execution of security plans and compliance initiatives. Facilitates delivery and tracking of security awareness training and contributes to continuous improvement of security processes.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A bachelor's degree in information technology systems, computer science, or a related field and experience in the information technology field to include experience in a security-focused role. Relevant experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Proficiency in managing security tools such as Microsoft Defender, Fortinet firewalls, and Microsoft Entra ID. Experience with vulnerability management, patching processes, and secure system configurations. Ability to develop technical documentation and contribute to security governance and awareness initiatives.
