Role Summary
The Floating Lead Custodian supervises and performs custodial services at multiple U.S. Federal Courthouses in accordance with SCA requirements and the AbilityOne Program. This position ensures janitorial operations meet contract standards, supports a team including employees with significant disabilities, ensures compliance with federal judiciary facility protocols, and promotes a secure, clean, and professional environment in sensitive judicial settings.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee and perform daily custodial operations (e.g., sweeping, mopping, disinfecting, vacuuming, restroom sanitation).
• Provide daily support, training, and mentorship to custodial staff, including individuals with disabilities.
• Ensure guidance and supervision align with AbilityOne program goals for individuals with significant disabilities.
• Conduct quality assurance inspections to ensure federal courthouse standards are met.
• Communicate effectively with site management, government officers, and building management.
• Ensure compliance with federal security protocols in restricted-access areas.
• Complete and submit all required forms, checklists, reports, and logs.
• Operate and maintain custodial equipment appropriately.
• Maintain supply inventory and submit timely, cost-conscious supply requests.
• Travel between sites as scheduled, following all traffic laws and safety protocols.
• Perform all other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Minimum 2 years of commercial custodial experience, including 1+ year in a leadership role.
• Ability to read and interpret work instructions, SDS sheets, and site procedures.
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain federal background check and courthouse security clearance.
• Demonstrates ability to support individuals with diverse abilities in an inclusive workplace.
• Detail-oriented, punctual, and professional in demeanor.
• Physically capable of lifting 50 lbs., walking long distances, and operating equipment.
