Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Privacy Manager to lead and enhance the company privacy program, ensuring compliance with privacy laws, regulations, and internal policies. The role is especially focused on the regional banking sector. The Privacy Manager will also support the Privacy Officer in strategic planning, reporting, and implementation of enterprise-wide privacy initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the bank's privacy program, including policies, procedures, and training.
  • Monitor and interpret federal and state privacy laws (e.g., GLBA, CCPA, HIPAA where applicable) and ensure compliance.
  • Conduct privacy impact assessments (PIAs) and data protection risk assessments.
  • Collaborate with IT, Legal, Compliance, and Business Units to ensure privacy-by-design principles are embedded in new products and services.
  • Manage and respond to data subject access requests (DSARs) and potential data breaches.
  • Lead privacy audits and assessments and coordinate with internal and external auditors.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for privacy-related inquiries from regulators, customers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide training and awareness programs to employees on privacy obligations and best practices.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Bachelor's degree in law, Business, Information Security, or a related field (Master's or JD preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in privacy compliance, with at least 3 years in a regional bank or financial institution.
  • Strong knowledge of GLBA, CCPA, GDPR, and other relevant privacy regulations.
  • Experience with privacy frameworks such as NIST Privacy Framework or ISO/IEC 27701.
  • CIPP/US, CIPM, or similar privacy certifications strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and project management skills.
Preferred Skills:
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally and influence without authority.
  • Strong ethical standards and a commitment to protecting customer data.
  • Experience with privacy technologies and data governance tools.
