Position Summary:

GEICO is seeking an experienced Senior Manager to build and lead a new team of engineers passionate about developing engineering solutionstools, frameworks, and automationin planning domains. This role will enable application teams to deliver enterprise-wide products that are high-performing, efficient, and reliable. Your work will span workloads across On-prem, Azure, and AWS, offering opportunities to solve complex multi-cloud problems and significantly impact customer experience and our technological transformation.

Position Description:

The Senior Manager will be an engineering leader overseeing staff working to ensure a frictionless customer experience and maintaining high standards of reliability and availability. Success in this role involves delivering high-quality technology products in a hyper-growth environment with shifting priorities. The ideal candidate possesses broad and deep technical expertise in application performance, capacity benchmarking, cloud/infrastructure architecture, and operational problem-solving.

Position Responsibilities:

As a Senior Manager, you will:

  • Collaborate with application teams to address performance, efficiency, and reliability issues sustainably.
  • Influence and develop a vision with application owners for faster, quality product releases.
  • Own the end-to-end delivery of team strategies and execution.
  • Develop and motivate teams to solve complex problems and advocate for open-source solutions.
  • Be hands-on in coding and building highly available systems.
  • Build and mentor a new team of software engineers.
  • Drive solutions aligned with long-term goals while managing technical debt efficiently.
  • Lead in Site Reliability Engineering, Operational excellence, and DevOps principles.
  • Identify workload and cost optimization opportunities.
  • Share best practices and improve processes across teams.

Qualifications:

  • Hands-on Software Engineering Manager with expertise in Capacity, Infrastructure, and FinOps Engineering.
  • Proficiency in at least one modern language such as Python, Java, or Go; open-source experience is a plus.
  • Experience managing infrastructure via Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible).
  • Strong knowledge of Cloud Architecture, Performance Benchmarking, Capacity Planning, and Reliability tools.
  • Expertise in Container Orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes), OS optimization.
  • Experience with Observability platforms, monitoring tools, and performance analysis.
  • Proven ability to manage and grow technical teams and leaders.
  • Deep understanding of data structures and algorithms.

Required qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • 10+ years in software engineering, including lifecycle practices.
  • 5+ years in large-scale, mission-critical environments.
  • 5+ years supervising technical personnel.
  • 2+ years experience with automated testing (Unit, Integration, End-to-End).

Annual Salary: $150,000.00 - $300,000.00

The salary range is a guideline; final compensation depends on multiple factors including experience, education, location, and market considerations. GEICO may sponsor employment authorization for qualified applicants.
