Job Responsibilities
This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Greater Greenville Mental Health Center, 124 Mallard Street, Greenville, SC 29601.
The Office of Mental Health's mission is to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses. We provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.
Under limited supervision of the community Rehabilitation and Support Services Program Coordinator, provides program supervision and monitoring for the center's Homeless Program; provides advanced counseling services and case management services to homeless chronically mentally ill clients and provides consultation and supervision to subordinate community Rehabilitation and Support Services Program staff.
Responsibilities for the Mental Health Professional II:
- Provide case management, individual living skills, group therapy and mental illness management services, group therapy assessment and crisis intervention services to seriously mentally ill clients.
- Provide overall program coordination, monitoring, outreach, and supervision for the Homeless Program at GGMHC.
- Provide consultation and supervision to subordinate Rehabilitation and Support Services Program staff.
- Participate in treatment team meetings and assist in the formulation/development of client treatment planning and program development.
- Adhere to all Corporate Compliance, Outcome Evaluation, Research and Continuity of Care Policies and procedures. Maintain documentation of clinical services in accordance with State/Center/Quality Assurance standards.
Minimum and Additional Requirements- A master's degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences or a related field and professional experience in a mental health, human service or social service program.
Additional Requirements: - In order to be credentialed for core services as a Mental Health Professional at the SC Office of Mental Health, applicants must provide evidence of clinical experience providing direct patient care. This experience may be documented as a practicum or internship during graduate program, or post-graduate clinical experience. Please be sure to provide specific clinical activities on your application and/or resume.
Preferred Qualifications- Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
Additional Comments Post hire, employees must: - Have extensive knowledge of administrative practices, procedures and standards pertaining to state mental health system.
- Have knowledge of methods, principles and practices of clinical counseling.
- Have ability to establish and maintain effective contact with clients, families and representatives of other professional disciplines.
