Territory Claims Manager

Job Summary: The Territory Claims Team Manager is responsible for overseeing the effective handling of assigned claims and ensuring the successful operation of a team of claim professionals.

Major Accountabilities:
  1. Provide overall team leadership and direction resulting in the timely and accurate handling of bodily injury claims arising out of trucking operations.
  2. Understand all facets of claims processes to a working level and be able to manage multiple priorities and peak workloads.
  3. Ensure team communication with all customers is professional and timely.
  4. Identify and recommend solutions for improved efficiency and productivity.
  5. Perform monthly file reviews on assigned staff.
  6. Take action to improve team audit scores when necessary.
  7. Ensure team audits result in proper adjustment of claims according to department procedures and expectations.
  8. Participate in the management and reduction of claims expenses.
  9. Provide supervision, coaching and counseling to assigned staff.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned by Management..


Qualifications:

Education/Training Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field or commensurate experience required. Professional insurance designation preferred.

Experience/Specialized Skills: Minimum of ten years of commercial claims experience required with minimum of five years management experience preferred. Familiarity with insurance law, commercial auto policies and coverages, and legal principles and terminology as it relates to insurance operations required. Knowledge of basic medical terminology and procedures required. Intermediate computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, databases, Internet, e-mail) required.

Special Considerations:

Physical Requirements: Constant use of vision, hearing, and communication (oral and written in person and via telephone). Frequent concentration, standing, walking, handling, reaching, and grasping. Occasional bending, kneeling and lifting (up to 25 lbs.) Heavy use of computer and office equipment.

Additional Requirements: Occasional travel required.
