Job Responsibilities
Serves as Assistant Resident Maintenance Engineer for Greenville Maintenance and the Resident Maintenance Engineer with organizing, planning, and coordinating the activities of employees of a county maintenance unit. Ensures that the unit is operating effectively and efficiently during normal and emergency operations. Supervises the Resident Maintenance Foremen and coordinates the efficient use of manpower and equipment throughout the county. Assists Resident Maintenance Engineer in investigating public complaints, work requests, and damage claims. Recommends corrective action and ensures completion. Makes recommendations for payment or denial of damage claims. Responsible for personnel matters including Employee Performance Management System (EPMS), reviews position description (PD) created new and updates, disciplinary actions, and approves time entry. Assists with meeting the general public, contractor personnel, utility company representatives, city and county officials as necessary while representing the department. Works with District representative to ensure Greenville Maintenance facilities are in compliance for inspections. Assists the Resident with employees that are required to be On-Call as needed to respond to emergencies regarding roadways in Greenville County. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Science and Management and three (3) years of engineering or construction management work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence.
The physical demands for the essential functions involves sitting or standing at a desk for extended periods of time. This position may require occasional travel. May require bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, and kneeling. Walking for extended periods, treading rough terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and in natural environmental hazards. May be required to work outside normal business hours or respond to emergency situations.
