ABOUT BJU PRESS & THE ROLE Vision: We want Christian education to be transformational in the lives of students as they grow in their faith and knowledge of our Savior, Jesus Christ.Mission: We produce transformational products and services for Christian educators.Brand Promise: We empower educators to prepare students to live in light of eternity.About the Team: The AHE team seeks to support the mission of BJU Press by helping families navigate homeschooling and maintain compliance with state regulations through recording-keeping services.Role Summary: As a AHE Guidance Counselor at BJU Press, the ideal candidate will play a supporting role on the AHE team by preparing transcripts, report cards, and checksheets as well as offering academic guidance to students and parents. There are also many opportunities to interact with both parents and students including AHE's annual Jr. Class Trip and annual graduation ceremony. You will be part of a team assisting homeschool families with general homeschooling and AHE support by phone and email.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: The Guidance Counselor will...Verify accuracy of parent-submitted student gradesReview and approve elective courses and credits.Process report cards for all grades at the end of grading periods.Process high school transcripts upon request.Process high school checksheets each grading period.Record student ACT/SAT scores.Provide academic counseling via phone, email, and in person.Participate in AHE's annual graduation activities.Participate in AHE's annual Jr. Class Trip.SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES NEEDED TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE:Good English and proofreading skillsKnowledge of standard office practices and equipmentAcademic advising abilityOrganizational and multi-tasking skills; detail-orientedFamiliarity with BJU Press materialsFamiliarity with educational developmentStrong people skills and good customer relations over the phoneREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's in EducationHomeschool experience helpfulAn applicant for a position in the Bob Jones University group - Bob Jones University, Bob Jones Academy or BJU Press - must be a born-again Christian who has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
