Our client , a leading Tier 1 automotive supplier, is expanding its automation team and seeking two (Sr. or Mid level) Controls Engineers to join a high-performance, hands-on environment. 2 immediate openings for Controls Engineers
Joining a team of 5 Process Engineers and 1 Controls Engineer
Open to adding a third Controls Engineer if the right candidate is found
Limited to NO Travel, steady 40-45 hours per week
?? What You'll Do
Program and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLCs (80% of plant)
Interface with Fanuc robots (ABB experience is a plus)
Work with Keon vision systems (Cognex acceptable)
Diagnose and resolve electrical/mechanical issues on production equipment
Maintain and update electrical schematics and machine program backups
Support installation and commissioning of new automation systems
Train maintenance staff on controls and troubleshooting
Participate in an on-call rotation every 3rd weekend
?? Interview Process
Step 1: Teams Interview
Resume walkthrough
Candidate must review and explain electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical prints
Step 2: Hands-On Assessment and On-site Interview
Troubleshoot a corrupted Allen-Bradley PLC program
Review Kion vision system interface and explain findings
And potentially:
Use a Fanuc robot to create a point, jog it, and demonstrate basic functions
ABB robot testing available if applicable
?? What You Bring
Allen-Bradley PLC experience is mandatory
Strong troubleshooting, ladder logic reading, and code modification skills
Experience with Keon or Cognex vision systems
Fanuc robotics preferred; ABB is a plus
Comfortable in a fast-paced, floor-based automotive environment
Willingness to be on-call and support other plants occasionally
Degree preferred , but not required with strong hands-on experience
Ideally 5+ years of experience , but open to less with the right attitude and aptitude
Must live within 20-40 minutes of the plant
