Job Details

• LIfeguard must hold current Red Cross and/or YMCA Lifeguard certification or comparable national cert.
• Lifeguard must be certified in CPR for the Pro Rescuer and First Aid
• Must be at least 16 years of age and in high school or graduated
• Must be able to complete any and all required training and employee application process as well as any other required certifications as the job progresses
• Must be able to make sound decisions in a stressful aquatics environment
• Lifting up to 100 pounds may be required
• Working around chemicals may be required
• Be alert with no lapses in consciousness

As part of the YMCA's effort to help youth succeed, the YMCA of Greater Spartanburg offers a college scholarship program for part-time employees in good standing who are planning to enroll in a minimum of 12 hours of college courses in the upcoming semester. The scholarship amount is $500 per semester, with a maximum of $1,000 per calendar year.
