Executive Director, Business Unit Finance
One of our clients, a rapidly growing manufacturing company in the Upstate of South Carolina, is hiring an Executive Director to join its finance leadership team. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a well-capitalized, entrepreneurial organization that is scaling quickly and investing in long-term growth. If you're energized by building systems, driving strategy, and making a tangible impact, this role offers the chance to truly move the needle.
Why this role matters
You'll be the chief financial strategist for a fast-growing business unit, turning data into direction and ensuring every dollar fuels long-term value. Sitting on the BU leadership team, you'll own the P&L, shape strategy, and champion investments that unlock growth. The company is rolling out Integrated Business Planning (IBP) for long-range forecasting, and you will be the Business Unit's point person for that transformation.
What you will do
- Co-create BU strategy and translate it into an executable plan
- Own the BU P&L—including architecture, cost allocations, and margin targets
- Build business cases for new markets, products, and pricing moves
Performance Insight & IBP
- Lead integrated business reviews that surface risks and drive corrective action
- Synchronize BU forecasts with the division's IBP / long-range planning cadence
- Deploy dashboards, driver-based models, and early-warning indicators
Investment & Resource Optimization
- Lead capital planning and portfolio reviews
- Partner with Product Line leaders on pricing and mix
- Advocate for BU needs in division-level IBP forums
Team & Capability Building
- Coach and develop a high-performing finance team
- Advance digital analytics and business-partnering skills
- Uphold strong controls and finance independence
What makes you a fit
Required
- 10+ years in finance (5+ in strategic/BU finance, FP&A, or commercial finance)
- Proven ownership or heavy influence over a full P&L
- Manufacturing industry background with standard costing expertise
- Hands-on exposure to integrated business planning (IBP) and long-range forecasting
- Advanced modeling, scenario planning, and S&OP/IBP tools experience
- Strong interpersonal skills—trusted advisor and cross-functional influencer
- Bachelor's in Finance, Economics, or related field (MBA / CPA / CFA / CIMA a plus)
Preferred
- Experience with Oracle ERP
- Experience with OneStream or Hyperion consolidation/FP&A platforms
How success is measured (first 12 months)
- Visible impact on revenue, margin, and cash targets
- 3–5 value-creation initiatives launched and tracked
- Robust decision-support framework and IBP-aligned dashboards adopted BU-wide
- Finance team upskilled from reporters to strategic partners
- BU planning fully synced with division IBP cadence
