What We're Looking For

The Risk Advisor is responsible for new insurance account production and sales activities within assigned accounts. The individual in this position conducts research in the market and develops a base of business to educate, promote, and sell insurance services. They keep current on business community activities to obtain leads for business development and maintain and service a profitable book of insurance business for existing clients. The Risk Advisor projects a professional company image through all interactions with clients, insurance carriers, co-workers, and others.

What You'll Be Doing

  1. Achieve annual new revenue objectives through consultative sales to new clients and expansion of service lines to existing clients.
  2. Exhibit thought leadership and industry engagement through associations, speaking panels, and demonstrating expertise in selected industry vertical(s).
  3. Develop annual, individual sales plan (ISP) with a pipeline coverage ratio of 5X or aligned with current company metrics to ensure goals are met.
  4. Build an active pipeline of qualified prospects, generating leads from personal contacts, client referrals, prospect pursuit campaigns (PPCs), colleagues, and marketing sources.
  5. Document new business activity in Relation's sales tracking system.
  6. Appropriately close new business, documenting opportunities and reasons for wins or losses.
  7. Develop and present recommendations to clients based on a consultative selling approach.
  8. Assess and identify risk issues, needs, and potential uninsurable exposures for clients.
  9. Recommend and assist clients with technical services including loss control and claims advocacy programs utilizing our in-house teams.
  10. Transition sold clients seamlessly to the client service/account management team.
  11. Build strategic and personal relationships with key client decision makers.
  12. Provide market trends, competitor analysis, and business intelligence input to leadership.
  13. Maintain a positive attitude, competitive drive, and a winning spirit.
  14. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

What You Need To Bring To The Table

  • Property and Casualty Insurance License (must be maintained).
  • College degree or minimum 2 years' sales experience in insurance (preferred).
  • Experience with complex commercial coverage.
  • Strong negotiation skills, problem-solving ability, and interpersonal skills.
  • Deep understanding of insurance markets, products, rating, and underwriting procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills to explain complex coverages and interpret information.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a demanding environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and ability to learn new software.
