Isuzu is investing approximately $280 million in a new 1 million-square-foot facility strategically located near I-85, I-26, and the Port of Charleston. This new plant will produce N-Series Gas, N-Series Electric, and F-Series Diesel trucks — with a target capacity of up to 50,000 units annually by 2030. Our advanced, flexible production lines will support these goals while creating more than 700 new jobs by the facility's 2027 launch.

Role Overview

The General Assembly Line Senior Supervisor oversees all in-line and final assembly processes — ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant production that meets takt-time, safety, and quality goals. Reporting to the General Assembly Manager, this role is responsible for supervising team leaders and assembly associates and driving continuous improvements on the shop floor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily assembly operations to hit safety, quality, and productivity targets.
  • Enforce safety standards, lead toolbox talks, and promote 5S/lean practices.
  • Monitor adherence to SOPs and takt-time — address deviations and drive on-time recovery.
  • Develop team members through hands-on training, task assignments, and performance feedback.
  • Support in-line quality checks and work with Engineering and Quality teams on corrective actions to prevent defects.
  • Liaise with Logistics, Maintenance, and Engineering to resolve line-side issues and minimize downtime.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste, enhance efficiency, and improve build integrity.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience & Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 7+ years in automotive or commercial vehicle assembly.
  • 3+ years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of assembly operations, jigs, tools, and process control (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OSHA).
  • Familiarity with lean principles (5S, Kaizen) and structured problem-solving tools (8D, PDCA).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and coaching skills.
  • Ability to drive performance while fostering teamwork and safety awareness.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and basic data reporting.
  • Willingness to complete training in Japan as part of knowledge transfer and process mastery.
