Join Sonardyne, a leader in ocean technology, as a Software Engineer – Communications. Play a key role in developing secure underwater communication systems for UUVs and autonomous systems, impacting both commercial and defense subsea operations.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop communication protocols (Layers 1–3) for high-latency, bandwidth-limited underwater environments.
  • Contribute to setting future standards in acoustic communication.
  • Optimize system performance using C and C++.
  • Create robust solutions to handle multipath interference, Doppler effects, and unpredictable channels.
  • Utilize tools like CMake and Conan for cross-platform development.
  • Integrate cybersecurity into all communication stack levels.
  • Participate in simulation, SIL testing, and channel modeling.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and document your work clearly.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in C and C++, including STL and object-oriented design.
  • Knowledge of electronics, especially analogue/digital circuits (preferred).
  • Experience with network protocols and real-time systems is advantageous.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Eligibility for UK Security Clearance (SC).
